United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he is “deeply troubled” by North Korea’s recent statements and actions and wants world powers to help calm the situation.
It’s not game, he said, as CNN reported.
“As Secretary-General, it is my duty to prevent war and to pursue peace,” Mr. Ban, a South Korean, said, as quoted by CNN. “It is also my responsibility to state that the current crisis has already gone too far. This must begin to calm down.”
His statements came as North Korea has vowed to restart its nuclear facilities and the United States has moved its guided missile destroyer, the USS McCain, into waters off the Korean Peninsula.
China, meanwhile, has put its military near the northeastern part of the nation on high alert.
