Police in the Boston suburb of Watertown are combing the streets in an intense manhunt for Suspect No. 2 who wore a white hat at the marathon bombings, warning residents early Friday morning not to open their doors.
CNN reported that the suspect is armed with explosives on his body and is dangerous. Authorities are going door to door, street to street, in a concerted search for what they describe as an extremely fluid and volatile situation, Reuters reported.
CNN reported that officers from local, state and federal agencies are involved in the search. Transit police spokesman Paul MacMillan said residents are being told to keep away from windows and doors.
“We believe this to be a terrorist,” said Boston Police Commissioner Ed David, in The Associated Press. “We believe this to be a man who’s come here to kill people. We need to get him in custody.”
The search follows last evening’s shooting of Suspect No. 1 (who wore the black hat at the Boston Marathon), after a chaotic evening that kept Watertown residents on edge. Police responded to a shooting at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge late Thursday evening.
One MIT officer responding was fired upon, sustained “multiple gunshot wounds,” and was killed, CNN reported. That suspect then fled, AP reported, and police were called an hour later to respond to a carjacking about five miles down the road.

They cornered the carjacked vehicle in Watertown and a shootout ensued. One of the suspects was critically injured and died later at the hospital, AP said.
AP said the other suspect escaped, and that’s who they are still searching Friday morning, AP reported.
Police are still trying to put all the events of the last few hours together, AP said.
