Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jonathan Papelbon, a World Series-winning right-hander with the Boston Red Sox in 2007, stole headlines Thursday — not for his earned run average, but rather for his political views.
“Today’s day and age has gotten so crazy,” he said, as Politico reported. “Shoot man, Obama wants to take our guns from us and everything. You got all this stuff going on. It’s just a little bit insane for me, man. I’m not sure how to take it.”
Papelbon waxed political after he was asked for his opinion about the Boston Marathon bombings, and he revealed that he used to live nearby.
“Families are ruined, lives are ruined. For what? It’s just sad,” he said in Politico. In that context, he also said that walking in crowds lately makes him uncomfortable.
