The same person who managed the fund for victims of the Sept. 11, 2011, terror attacks will design and head up a new charity for Boston Marathon bombing survivors and families.
It’s called One Fund Boston and will be administered by lawyer Kenneth Feinberg, The Associated Press reported.
The fund is supposed to serve as the central clearing spot for donations to bombing victims, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino said in the AP report. The pair reported that the fund already has more than $7 million in pledges from corporate and individual donors. It has already collected more than $500,000 from 8,500 online donors, too, AP said.
Mr. Feinberg has a lengthy background in fund management. In addition to overseeing the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, he also ran one for victims of the 2010 BP Gulf Coast oil spill and another for victims of the mass shootings at Virginia Tech and at Aurora, Colo., AP reported.
