A sinkhole on the southeast side of Chicago swallowed up three vehicles Thursday morning, injuring one person who had to be pulled from the hole.

Witnesses told police that the man was injured when he tried to drive round the hole, but it expanded and caused his vehicle to drop, USA Today reported. The man is reportedly in good condition and recovering from minor head injuries at a local hospital, Chicago Police Department spokesman Michael Sullivan said, in the Chicago Tribune.

The sinkhole expanded due to rainy weather and heavy street flooding, responders guessed in the USA Today report.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.

“It could have happened to me [injury],” said Ola Oni, to USA Today, after her car fell into the hole. “I am luck[y]. I’m happy.”
