Actor Jamie Foxx walked the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night wearing a T-shirt honoring Trayvon Martin and the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook shooting.
Mr. Foxx — attending with his 17-year-old daughter, Corrine Bishop, and “Django Unchained” co-star Kerry Washington — wore a shirt with a large picture of the deceased teenager’s face and the words “Know justice, know peace.” The shirt also featured the photos of all 20 children and the six staff members who were killed in Newtown, Conn., in December.
“We’re just thinking about the children,” the actor told MTV host Josh Horowitz, adding that he didn’t mean to make a political statement. “We’re just protecting our kids.”
Along with Samuel L. Jackson, Mr. Foxx picked up an award for the scene in which they burn down the evil Candieland plantation in “Django Unchained,” the Daily Mail reports.
