Democratic Rep. Bobby L. Rush of Illinois has introduced new legislation banning the term “illegal immigrant” from being used in Congress.
The bill expresses the need for House members “to use refer the term ’undocumented’ instead of the term ’illegal’ when referring to foreign nationals which are working in the United States without proper documentation.”
The measure comes just days after the Associated Press announced it has also scrapped the term.
Mr. Rush’s bill, which has yet to pick up any cosponsors, is unlikely to proceed to the House, the Hill reports.
