Move over Grover Norquist, whose Americans for Tax Reform sends out a “no new taxes” petition to new members of Congress. Democrats in Congress are riffing on his idea and circulating a pledge for congressional members — only with a left-wing slant.

Rep. Alan Grayson and Rep. Mark Takano have joined forces and are sending out a letter to President Obama signed by congressional members who vow to vote against any cuts in entitlement spending, The Daily Caller reported.

“We will vote against any and every cut to Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security benefits — including raising the retirement age or cutting the cost-of-living adjustments that our constituents earned and need,” the letter reads, The Daily Caller reported.

The letter has the backing of Progressive Change Campaign Committee, MoveOn and Democracy for America, The Daily Caller reported.

“This is a left-wing pledge just like ATR is a right-wing pledge,” said David Walker, the U.S. Comptroller General under President George W. Bush, in The Daily Caller.
