FORT WORTH, TEXAS (AP) - Joey Logano finished fifth in the Sprint Cup race in Texas after almost missing the start and getting sent to the back of the field following a failed prerace inspection.

Logano’s No. 22 Ford was dropped from 18th Saturday night because NASCAR ruled he was late to the starting grid. He wasn’t in the car when other drivers fired their engines on pit road, and he missed the first warm-up lap.

NASCAR said Logano and Penske teammate Brad Keselowski had parts confiscated over issues with the rears of their cars. The parts will be further evaluated in North Carolina next week.

Keselowski, the defending Sprint Cup champion, made it to pit road in plenty of time and started 16th in the No. 2 Ford. He finished ninth.
