Taiwanese authorities found an explosive device hidden inside a couple of bags that were placed in a high-speed train’s bathroom on Friday.
An estimated 600 passengers were evacuated, CNN said.
The Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. train stopped in Hsinchu City after a passenger reported finding the explosives in two pieces of luggage, CNN reported.
White smoke was wafting from the bags, and nearby witnesses said they smelled gas. Investigators said they found a quantity of gasoline and a timer device inside the bags.
The train had been en route to Taipei. CNN did not report any suspects had been identified or arrested.
