SHANGHAI (AP) - Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel remains defiant over his disregard of team orders at the Malaysian Grand Prix, saying he is paid by the Red Bull team to win races.

Vettel ignored team orders at Sepang and passed teammate Mark Webber in the closing stages, prompting an angry reaction not only from Webber and team officials but across the Formula One fan base.

Ahead of this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix, Vettel said in an interview with team sponsor Infiniti that: “I don’t apologize for winning, that’s why people employed me in the first place and why I’m here. I love racing and that’s what I do.”

Both Vettel and Webber were to appear at press conferences Thursday.
