AUGUSTA, Ga. — Olympic gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn watched her boyfriend, Tiger Woods, play in Thursday’s opening round of the Masters Tournament.

Vonn lingered at the top of the hill above the 10th green looking through binoculars to see Woods play. She wore a tan ankle-length dress with matching hat and flat straw sandals.

“It’s my first time here,” Vonn said. “It’s beautiful. I love it.”

“I’ve only been to a few tournaments, so this is definitely my favorite so far,” she said.

Vonn, who won a gold medal in the downhill and a bronze in the Super G in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, underwent surgery several weeks ago to repair two ligaments torn in her right knee during a competition in February. She wore a black knee brace Thursday, visible only when she shifted her dress for walking.

“I’m trying to do as much [walking] as I can every day, but I’m hoping to walk more on the weekend,” she said.

After Woods putted on No. 10, Vonn returned to the big oak tree in front of the Augusta National Golf Club clubhouse.

Masters patrons largely kept their distance from Vonn, but several changed the direction they were walking to follow her as she headed to the clubhouse.

“Where? Where? There she is,” one man said as Vonn entered the roped-off area under the oak tree.

She chatted for several minutes, then walked slowly but without a noticeable limp toward the main leaderboard and behind ropes to a restricted area.
