President Obama’s $3.77 trillion budget plan is hardly serious, or feasible, said Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson.
Not only is it late, he said, on Fox News. But it’s filled with spending — and noticeably lacking in cuts.
“Obviously, releasing a budget two months late is leading from behind,” the Republican said, Fox News reported. “I mean, it is not a serious budget. It never provides balance. [It] doesn’t put us on a glide path to actually live within our means.”
The president is instead bringing forth legislation that increases the deficit immediately, he said. And from there, it gets worse.
“Extrapolate that for the next 10 years,” he said, as reported by Fox News. “That is what his proposal looks like to me – more increased spending, more increased taxes and unfortunately more increased deficits.”
Mr. Johnson also said Mr. Obama’s push to hike taxes on the wealthy would in turn damage the ability of small businesses to grow – at a time when the nation is still facing sluggish job growth.
