Rep. Peter King characterized his biggest fear from North Korea is that leader Kim Jong-un was putting himself in a box with his strong rhetoric and he might reach the point where he feels he has no choice but to act.
His statements on ABC on Sunday came as the North warned of a “state of war” and the United States sent F-22 Raptors — stealth fighter jets — to Seoul on Sunday to join in South Korea’s military drills, Fox News reports.
“Kim Jong-un is trying to establish himself,” Mr. King said, on ABC. “He’s trying to be the tough guy. He is 28, 29 years old, and he keeps going further and further out, and I don’t know if he can get himself back in. So my concern would be that he may feel to save face he has to launch some sort of attack on South Korea or some base in the Pacific.”
North Korea’s legislators are meeting Monday for a parliamentary session, The Associated Press reports.
