Greenbelt police on Tuesday released photos of a man suspected in a shootout that injured a teenage bystander in a park last week.

The shooting happened in the early evening hours of Aug. 28 at Mandan Park, near the intersection of Mandan Road and Ora Glen Drive in Greenbelt. According to police, two people began shooting at one another around 6:20 p.m. In the midst of the shootout, a 17-year-old girl who was walking home was struck in the leg by a stray bullet.

The juvenile was treated and released from the hospital the next day.

Photos of one of the suspected shooters, which were taken by a witness as the man was fleeing the scene, show the back of a shirtless man running through a field. Police have no description of the second shooter.

Several people were out in the park at the time of the shooting and police hope that someone will recognize the picture of the shooter, Greenbelt police spokeswoman Officer Kelly Lawson said.
