NUMBER ONE: Google is expected to surpass Facebook in display advertising revenue this year, beating all other competitors with a 15.4 percent share of the U.S. market, says research firm eMarketer.

TWO TOP DOGS: EMarketer expects Google to generate $2.31 billion in revenue from online display ads in the U.S. It predicts Facebook will hold 14.4 percent of the market with $2.16 billion.

THE TOTAL: EMarketer expects the display advertisement market to grow 21.5 percent this year to nearly $15 billion in the U.S., helped by Facebook and Google. In the coming years, it expects that market share among former online powerhouses such as Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft will likely decrease.
