Records show that D.C. Council member Michael A. Brown has had his driver’s license suspended five times over the past eight years because of traffic violations and failure to pay tickets.
The Washington Post reports that Mr. Brown has been without his driving privileges for a quarter of the time he’s spent on the council. The Post obtained the information through a Freedom of Information Act request.
The records show that he was barred from driving between June 2009 and March 2010, with the exception of about 30 days. He also had his license suspended three times between 2005 and 2007.
Mr. Brown declined to comment. Last week, he revealed that more than $113,000 had gone missing from his campaign account. The at-large independent is seeking a second term on the council.
