Once Mitt Romney is elected president and takes office, his first order of business should be to fire for incompetence Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, San Francisco Federal Reserve President John Williams and the other doves on the board who are addicted to printing money irresponsibly.

The Fed has proved that it is impotent when it comes to reducing unemployment; further stimulus to do so should be cause for impeachment, especially if it is done prior to the November elections.

The time has come to send Mr. Bernanke back to Princeton University before he does any more damage. He already has destroyed the savings of millions of retirees who depend on interest from certificates of deposit and other money market instruments to survive.
