The parents of a Fairfax County teenager missing for a week confirmed in a statement that the body found in a park on Monday was their son.
Thanking the community for their well-wishes, Mike and Rosells Glenn called the news about their son Bryan’s death “devastating” and “a great shock to our family and friends.”
“Our family would like to express our profound gratitude to the hundreds of volunteers and search team leads,” Mr. and Ms. Glenn said in their statement.
It was a volunteer that found the body Tuesday, Fairfax County police said, during a civilian-led search through Thaiss Park, where the 17-year-old had parked his car. The Wilbert Tucker Woodson High School student was last seen Oct. 1, dropping his younger brother off at school.
Fairfax police have not confirmed the body is that of the high school senior.
