SOUTH BEND, IND. (AP) - Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly wants his players to stick to the plan.
Kelly said it’s the same plan he used when Grand Valley State went 14-0 in 2002 and won the Division II national championship, when the spotlight shining on the program came from the Detroit media. It’s the plan he used in leading Cincinnati to a 12-0 start in 2009, before accepting the Notre Dame job.
He’s sticking to the plan now that the seventh-ranked Fighting Irish (5-0) are off to their best start in a decade. The plan is to stay focused on today and make sure Irish players aren’t looking at the big picture. The focus now is No. 17 Stanford (4-1), which has beaten the Irish three straight times.
