Sav Rocca has be punting with a torn meniscus in his right knee, Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Monday.
Rocca, whose status for the Redskins’ Oct. 21 game was in doubt with a knee injury, has not missed any time but also has not looked himself. He had a 12-yard punt in Sunday’s loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Shanahan called Rocca the best punter he has been around in the NFL and complimented his toughness for playing through the knee injury.
“The doctors told us it couldn’t get any worse, so he decided to keep punting,” he said.
