EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - When the New York Giants visited the White House in June in the heart of the political campaign, coach Tom Coughlin said the Super Bowl champions shared a goal with President Barack Obama _ repeating.

Obama did his part Tuesday, defeating Mitt Romney to claim a second-term.

Coughlin was initially reluctant to comment on the result Wednesday.

“Here we go,” Coughlin said. “I’m not a politician.”

Just as quickly, though, he responded.

“He’s there. We need to get there,” the smiling coach said.

After Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon noted Obama completed half the equation, Coughlin walked out of a news conference to preview the game between the Giants (6-3) and Bengals (3-5) Sunday saying:

“He didn’t call me right away by the way,” Coughlin joked.
