SEATTLE (AP) - The Minnesota Twins will place designated hitter Justin Morneau on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore right wrist.
Morneau complained of pain Monday in the wrist he had surgically repaired last October. He returned to Minneapolis on Tuesday to have a MRI exam, which showed no structural damage. He rejoined the team Wednesday, but has not played since.
Morneau has received a variety of treatments to help reduce the pain, but they haven’t worked.
He is expected to meet with Twins specialist Dr. Tom Varecka when the team returns to Minnesota. The Twins will not add a player to the roster until Monday.
Morneau’s stint on the disabled list will be retroactive to May 1.
The 2006 MVP is hitting .230 with four home runs and nine RBIs.
