CNN is hiring a chef.
The news network said Tuesday it is bringing in chef Anthony Bourdain to be the host of a weekend show on food and travel. The series is expected to start early next year.
Mr. Bourdain has done programs on both the Travel Channel and Food Network, and also appeared in the Bravo competition Top Chef. His CNN show will feature cultures around the world through the prism of dining traditions.
CNN said it is trying to do more to distinguish its weekend programming from weekday news shows. Mr. Bourdain’s program will be seen on Sunday in prime time, with repeats shown on Saturday nights.
’Lambs’ ’ Clarice Starling center of new Lifetime show
The Lifetime cable network is developing a drama centered on the character of Clarice Starling from the early 1990s horror thriller “The Silence of the Lambs.” The project, which hails from MGM, is poised to take place soon after a young Starling graduates from the FBI Academy.
It is a role that garnered Jodie Foster an Academy Award for best actress two decades ago; Julianne Moore took over the part of the young agent in the 2001 Ridley Scott sequel “Hannibal.” And it’s in keeping with Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc’s desire to keep the newly rebranded network focused on strong female leads, rather than simply women in peril.

A Showtime spokesperson has confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that actress Zuleikha Robinson has joined “Homeland” in a recurring role.
The 34-year-old actress reportedly will play a Middle Eastern woman and field journalist named Roya Hammad who has ties to the terrorist organization.
Ms. Robinson played the elusive Ajira Flight 316 survivor, Ilana Verdansky, on “Lost.” She also appeared on HBO’s “Rome.”
“Homeland” returns at 10 p.m. on Sept. 30 on Showtime.
