The reliance on diplomatic means to divert Iran’s nuclear program toward peaceful applications is nonsense (“Iran OKs talks on nuclear program,” Page 1, Wednesday). This process has one possible outcome: a nuclear weapon in the hands of the mullahs.

The Israelis know this. All thinking individuals know this. In order to stop Iran, there must be a strike on key military and nuclear research, development and manufacturing sites active in the nuclear program.

There are bound to be serious consequences if and when a military strike occurs. There would be immediate retaliation by Iran against Israel. American interests also would be targeted, possibly on American soil by Iranian-sponsored terrorists, many of whom have entered via the Mexican border. Also, Iran would attempt to block the shipping lanes in the Gulf Coast region, leading to conflict with the U.S. Navy.

Israel would be under the greatest siege. Rockets and missiles would rain down on the Israeli population with fury. The prospect for a larger global conflict is serious. Nonetheless, America must weigh the evils involved and decide accordingly. Iran with a nuclear weapon is the greater of the evils.
