Our troops are being targeted and slain in Afghanistan in a very cowardly way by the very people they are trying to help. Instead of apologies, which are considered a sign of weakness in that part of the world, an ultimatum should be issued: Stop the killing and the out-of-control demonstrations or U.S. troops will be pulled out immediately, opening the door for the return of the Taliban.

One of three things will happen if the Afghans believe we have issued a serious ultimatum: Not wanting the return of the Taliban, the people will heed the warning; if the Taliban are behind the killings and riots, the masses will overrule or disregard them and things will calm down; or the situation will continue and we pull our troops out of Afghanistan after launching an all-out assault on the Taliban.

Another alternative is for President Obama to keep apologizing and keep making speeches about how the apologies are working as more American troops get killed.
