ORLANDO, FLA. (AP) - Charlie Wi had a big turnaround at Bay Hill from his last round of golf.
So did Tiger Woods.
Wi made a 13 on the fifth hole last week in the final round at Innisbrook. He started the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a 6-under 66, including a 6-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole. That gave him a two-shot lead over Nick Watney among the early starters Thursday.
Woods, meanwhile, had a 69 without breaking a sweat, much less having any body parts break down. Woods withdrew midway through the final round of Doral because of a sore left Achilles tendon. That wasn’t a problem at Bay Hill. Despite a pair of three-putt bogeys, he handled the par 5s and rolled in a 30-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole.
