BUDAPEST, HUNGARY (AP) - A Hungarian soccer club with several current and former players suspected of match-fixing says its director has killed himself.
The Budapest-based REAC team says Robert Kutasi died Thursday. Police say he jumped off a building. He was 48.
Six REAC players were taken into custody by police Tuesday. They are under preliminary arrest in a match-fixing scandal in which 25 people have been questioned by prosecutors.
Despite the arrests of its players, REAC and its officials are not suspected of being involved in the match-fixing.
Kutasi was a leading anti-corruption figure in Hungarian soccer. He told the sports daily Nemzeti Sport this week that “my life is over” because of the case.
