In a recent speech in the Rose Garden, President Obama warned China about gaining a competitive advantage in world trade by “skirting the rules” (“Obama takes on China with high-tech trade complaint,” Web, Tuesday). “If China would simply let the market work on its own, we’d have no objection,” he said.

This certainly makes me wonder why the president would expect another country to abide by the rules of true capitalistic ventures when he himself espouses the opposite in his own country by picking winners and losers, such as General Motors, Chrysler, banks and green-energy companies.
