NEW YORK (AP) - MSNBC’s Willie Geist better be careful about earning some laughs at the expense of NBC’s Big Man.
At an NBC News meeting with advertisers in New York City on Thursday, Geist said Williams was more than a newsman. He said the NBC “Nightly News” anchor is “a caregiver for our parents and our grandparents.”
He said Williams’ viewers have “one hand on the remote, the other” on a medical alert button. Geist drew roars from the audience of insiders, who know that network nightly newscasts are among the oldest on television.
Williams got a little bit of revenge, asking Geist: “Do you have a show?”
Geist’s “Way Too Early” airs weekdays at 5:30 a.m. Eastern.
