Some time ago, when President Obama had started taking matters into his own hands but before he made those recess appointments when the Senate was not in recess, I had this horrible feeling that at the end of his presidency - especially if re-elected - he would simply call off the next election and announce he is staying in office. Sounds crazy, right?

Maybe not. In his recent Op-Ed, Judge Andrew Napolitano makes the statement that Congress “can no more authorize the president to avoid due process than it can authorize him to extend his term in office beyond four years” (“Can the president kill you?” Friday). Since Mr. Obama seems to “take matters into his own hands” (his own words), he may think he doesn’t need congressional approval for such a step. So maybe my worries are not so crazy after all.
