WASHINGTON (AP) - The National Symphony Orchestra in Washington plans to visit Europe this winter in its second international tour under Christoph Eschenbach.
The orchestra announced Tuesday it would visit Spain, Germany and France in January and February 2013. It already plans to visit five Latin American countries in a tour that begins next week in Mexico City.
Eschenbach says he wants to “bring this great orchestra to the attention of the world.”
The European tour includes concerts in Madrid and Murcia, Spain, followed by Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Nurnberg and Frankfurt in Germany. It concludes with a concert in Paris.
Violinist Julia Fischer will be a featured soloist in Spain and Germany. Tzimon Barto will perform with the orchestra in Paris.
