SAN FRANCISCO — The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said it hopes to complete its investigation of sexual assault allegations involving San Francisco Giants slugger Pablo Sandoval by the end of this week, then determine whether to file charges.
Deputy Sheriff April Skalland says detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence, though analysis of some forensic evidence could take longer than a week. Skalland says the accuser is a 21-year-old woman who lives in Santa Cruz County.
Sandoval, 25, met with authorities Friday after the incident that led to the investigation. He is scheduled to play a rehab game for Class-A San Jose as he works back from left hand surgery.
