ARLINGTON, TEXAS (AP) - Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton has been released from the hospital after becoming dehydrated because of an intestinal virus.

The Rangers said Hamilton was released Saturday morning and was home resting. Hamilton is expected to work out at the ballpark on Sunday and accompany the team to San Diego for a series that starts Monday.

Hamilton was hospitalized early Friday, when he was given fluids because of a virus going around in his family.

Rangers manager Ron Washington had said Friday that he didn’t expect Hamilton to play in the weekend series against the Houston Astros. After Saturday night’s game, the Texas teams finish with a day game Sunday.
