CLEVELAND (AP) — President Obama on Thursday said November’s election will give voters the chance to break a stalemate about America’s direction.
Mr. Obama said in a campaign speech in the battleground state of Ohio that his race against Republican Mitt Romney will present a choice “between two fundamentally different visions” about how to grow the economy, create jobs for the middle class and pay down the nation’s debt.
The president said the nation is being held back by a “stalemate” in Washington. He acknowledged that the economy isn’t where it needs to be and said the election-year debate will pivot on how the economy grows faster and creates jobs.
Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney spoke about 250 miles apart on Thursday. The president was at a community college in Cleveland; Mr. Romney spoke at a manufacturing company in Cincinnati.
