D.C. police are investigating a “possible shooting or stabbing” that left a 26-year-old man dead Monday night, a Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman said.

Brian Dewayne Bloomfield was found suffering from multiple injuries in the 3400 block of 13th Place in Southeast, near Congress Heights, around 7:15 p.m. He was later pronounced dead.

MPD spokeswoman Officer Tisha Gant said Mr. Bloomfield’s exact cause of death was unknown Tuesday.

Two other men were injured in a separate shooting and stabbing overnight in Southeast.

MPD officers responded to the 1200 block of Sumner Road in the Barry Farm neighborhood for a report of a shooting. A man was found around 8:08 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower left leg. He was conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital, Officer Gant said.

Another man was stabbed multiple times around 12:17 a.m. in the 2800 block of Gainesville Street Southeast.
Originally it was reported to police that he had been stabbed in the hand and was conscious and breathing, Officer Gant said. However when officers arrived on the scene, they found the situation was more serious as he had suffered multiple stab wounds.

No additional information was available about his condition on Tuesday.
