CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - NASCAR has penalized Austin Dillon because his car failed inspection following his Nationwide Series win at Kentucky, dropping him out of the points lead.

Dillon was docked six points in the standings Monday, going from two points up on Elliott Sadler in the Nationwide standings to down by four points.

Crew chief Danny Stockman Jr. was fined $10,000, and car owner Morgan Shepherd was also docked six points.

Dillon earned his first career Nationwide victory on Friday night at Kentucky by leading 192 of the 200 laps. NASCAR ruled afterward that his No. 3 Chevrolet was too low.

Dillon’s grandfather, Richard Childress, says the car passed all of its earlier inspections and a problem with the right rear jack bolt caused the problem.
