D.C. police are investigating a report that an officer made verbal threats against first lady Michelle Obama.

A spokeswoman on Thursday said the Metropolitan Police Department is looking into a whether “inappropriate comments were made” by an officer about the first lady.

“We are currently investigating the nature of those comments,” police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said.

The Washington Post reported that the officer is a part of the department’s Special Operations Division and worked as a motorcycle escort for White House officials. According to the report the officer said during a conversation that he would shoot Mrs. Obama and then showed a picture of a gun on his cellphone that he said he would use. Another officer overheard the remark and reported it to a superior.
