The Volt, the attempt by General Motors Corp. to enter the electric car market, is an unmitigated disaster. GM sold only 7,671 Volts in 2011. GM claims the problem is with the public, but I place the problem squarely on the Obama administration’s wasteful bailout of GM and the continued pro-union, “eco-friendly” ways of President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s big-government co-op.

How much did Americans pay in taxes for this travesty? I know $500 million in bailout money saved the GM union pension fund that hasn’t been viable since Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa did business with organized crime. But coupled with failed solar-panel maker Solyndra LLC and the other Obama eco-crony projects managed in union backrooms, the American taxpayer is being robbed blind to buttress failing union interests - and there is no proof these make-believe corporations will turn a profit in the near future.

Indeed, why should they when they can operate solely on taxpayer subsidies? It is the commercialization of the welfare industry and works with just as much reckless abandon for the sake of keeping government coffers full. I say anybody but Mr. Obama and the inside traders in 2012.
