Knicks’ Stoudemire, Shumpert may be back by Wednesday
GREENBURGH, N.Y. — The New York Knicks are close to getting back some sorely needed scoring punch.
Amare Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert could return from injuries Wednesday, two nights after the Knicks struggled to find any offense beyond Carmelo Anthony in a 90-85 loss to Toronto.
Stoudemire and Shumpert took part in a light practice Tuesday and then played in a 3-on-3 workout on a short court. The Knicks say both players will be game-time decisions against Charlotte.
Stoudemire has missed two straight games with a sprained left ankle, and Shumpert has been sidelined since spraining a right knee ligament in the season opener on Christmas.

Ailing groin sidelines Flyers’ Jagr for 7-10 days
PHILADELPHIA — Flyers forward Jaromir Jagr, who left the Winter Classic with a leg injury Monday, has a mild left groin strain, and will miss seven to 10 days.
Jagr, 39, is in his first season with Philadelphia after three in Russia, and was one of this summer’s marquee free agents. The former Penguin, Capital and Ranger played only a minute of the second period at Citizens Bank Park in the Flyers’ 3-2 loss to the Rangers. He was replaced on Philadelphia’s top line by James van Riemsdyk.
Jagr has 12 goals, 31 points and is a plus-12 for the Flyers, who now trail the first-place Rangers by four points in the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia plays host to Chicago on Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center.
• Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber has taken a big step in his recovery from a concussion by returning to the ice in noncontact drills. Weber skated Tuesday with the Predators in a practice, but coach Barry Trotz says there still is no timetable for when the Norris Trophy finalist will return to game action.
