CLAREMORE, OKLA. (AP) - The judge and lawyers in Garth Brooks’ lawsuit against an Oklahoma hospital have been meeting to hammer out what jurors should consider as they deliberate the case
Brooks wants the Integris (in-TEHG-rihs) Canadian Valley Regional Hospital to return a $500,000 donation, saying it reneged on a pledge to name a women’s center after his late mother. The hospital says the gift was unconditional.
Both sides rested their cases Monday after Brooks concluded his testimony and two defense witnesses took the stand briefly.
Rogers County District Judge Dynda Post pushed closing arguments into Tuesday afternoon so lawyers could negotiate jury instructions. She warned jurors they could work late.
Brooks filed the lawsuit against in 2009, seeking a return of his 2005 donation. Colleen Brooks died of cancer in 1999.
