NEW YORK (AP) - The Big East will hold a teleconference with Navy officials on Tuesday to announce the service academy is planning to join the league.
A person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Monday night that Navy was preparing to announce that it plans to play football in the Big East starting in 2015.
Big East Commissioner John Marinatto will be joined on the teleconference at 3 p.m. (EST) by Vice Admiral Michael Miller, the superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, along with athletic director Chet Gladchuk and football coach Ken Niumatalolo.
In December, the Big East added Boise State and San Diego State as football-only members and SMU, Houston and Central Florida in all sports. Those schools will join in 2013.
