Rob Lowe is taking on another role — pigskin prognosticator.
The actor lit up social media Wednesday when he tweeted that Peyton Manning was done. Lowe said he’d heard from “my people” that the Indianapolis Colts quarterback would retire later in the day.
No official word yet from Manning, the 35-year-old star who missed this season with a neck injury. But ESPN’s Chris Mortensen tweeted that Manning’s father, Archie, laughed at Lowe’s report and said it wasn’t true.
Colts spokesman Avis Roper and Manning’s agent Tom Condon had no comment.
Lowe is on the NBC hit “Parks and Recreation” that’s set in Indiana. He’s also friends with Colts owner Jim Irsay - Lowe was the first person Irsay followed on Twitter.
Tebow won’t require surgery for injuries
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Tim Tebow is expected to make a full recovery, without surgery, from rib, lung and chest injuries he sustained in the Denver Broncos’ loss at New England in an AFC divisional playoff game last weekend.
ESPN first reported Wednesday that Tebow was hurt on a third-quarter tackle during Denver’s 45-10 loss, then had trouble sleeping because of the pain and underwent an MRI on his chest Monday.
Backup Brady Quinn got ready after Tebow was hit by Vince Wilfork and Rob Ninkovich, but Tebow stayed in. The injuries aren’t expected to interfere with Tebow’s offseason training program.
Fisher lends support at scene of auto accident
ST. LOUIS — New St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher lent support to an auto accident victim Sunday night in Tennessee.
Fisher had been on his way home after having dinner with Brian Schottenheimer, whom he’d interviewed earlier in the day for the offensive coordinator position. Fisher said he was among the first to arrive at the accident scene and stayed with an injured 13-year-old boy until medical personnel arrived.
Fisher said Tuesday after his introductory news conference in St. Louis that the victim was in stable but critical condition.

• BENGALS: Cincinnati cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Jones, 28, was accused in court documents of being disorderly, shouting profanities and trying to pull away as officers arrested him at a downtown bar in July.
• STEELERS: Pittsburgh assistant coach Kirby Wilson, 50, remains in critical condition with burns on more than 45 percent of his body. The team released a statement from Wilson’s family on Tuesday saying Wilson also suffered a smoke-inhalation injury during the Jan. 6 fire at his townhouse in a northern Pittsburgh suburb.
