Five people were injured in four separate shootings Tuesday night in the District, police said.
In an additional incident, a Metropolitan Police Department officer shot and killed a dog that attacked and bit two people, officials said.
The first shooting of the night was reported at 5:45 p.m. when a man was brought to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot. Police think the shooting occurred at 12th and Newton streets in Northeast.
At 6 p.m., officers received a report that a dog had attacked two people and responded to 14th and Tuckerman streets in Northwest, MPD spokeswoman Officer Tisha Gant said.
“A dog charged an officer, who discharged his weapon, fatally striking the dog,” Fourth District Commander Kimberly Chisley-Missouri said in an email.
No further information was available about the incident or the condition of the dog bite victims.
At 7 p.m., police said an argument in the 1500 block of White Place in Southeast turned violent. A man and woman were both shot.
About 20 minutes later, a shooting was reported approximately 2 miles away in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road in Southeast, Officer Gant said. The man who was shot refused to provide information to police.
The final shooting reported Tuesday night happened in the 700 block of 18th Street in Northeast. One man was shot around 10 p.m. Police are looking for two to four men who wore black masks when they attacked the man.
On Wednesday, Officer Gant had no additional information about the condition of the five shooting victims.
