OPINION:
As a former law-enforcement officer and Marine Vietnam War veteran on 100 percent disability, I speak about matters of war and policy from a place of experience. I am not talking through my hat like I’ve seen so many politicians and others do over the years.
We have a president who has no honor or respect for the people he is supposed to represent. When President Obama defied the people of our country by passing his health care bill behind closed doors, I spoke out. When he spent billions of our tax dollars on bad investments and bailouts and then had the gall to say it was no big deal, I again spoke out.
Now our president has apologized to the Afghan people for the unintentional burning of the Koran, which was used to pass on secret information to conspirators working against our interests in Afghanistan (“Santorum: Obama’s apology showed ’weakness,’ ” Web, Sunday). What I didn’t see from anyone in the Obama White House was sympathy or outrage over the deaths of two of our military personnel. Nor did I hear apologies from Afghanistan for these killings.
Now two more Americans in our military have been killed over the burning of a book. So far, I haven’t heard the president come out screaming at the top of his lungs at the outrageous acts committed by people who are supposed to be our allies.
Mr. Obama’s contempt for his own country should be obvious by now. His lack of compassion for our military should also be obvious - and yet all he has said lately is that he will be with us for another five years.
