Anacostia Senior High School caught fire Friday morning and a firefighter battling the blaze was injured when he fell through the roof of the school, D.C. fire officials said.
The fire was reported sometime after 11 a.m. and reportedly started in an area of the school that was under construction, said D.C. fire department spokesman Oscar Mendez.
Students and staff have been evacuated from the school, located at 1601 16th Street in Southeast, and no injuries were reported, Mr. Mendez said.
The fire was extinguished by 12:30 p.m. but there was no word on the condition of the injured firefighter at that time.
