CHARLTON, MASS. (AP) - The FBI and Massachusetts police are trying to figure out who “hijacked” Facebook pictures of teenage girls from Massachusetts high schools and posted them on a website police say features child pornography.
Police say the site posted pictures of 17 girls who attend Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton and girls from other schools. The girls are fully-clothed. Bay Path’s superintendent-director said parents alerted the school.
The photos contained information that could be used to identify the girls.
The FBI is investigating.
Police said Thursday that part of the website with the photos was shut down but the FBI said later that the site was running. The website is hosted in Ohio. Its servers are in eastern Europe.
