It appears a lot of No. 10 Washington Redskins jerseys will change hands this holiday season.
Robert Griffin III’s jersey has sold more than any other player’s in a single year since the league began tracking such data six years ago, according to an ESPN.com report.
Griffin reportedly broke the single-year sales records of Brett Favre’s New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings jerseys, set in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
ESPN based its report on sales metrics from the NFL’s internet store.
Griffin’s jersey accounts for 6.99 percent of nationwide jersey sales at Dick’s Sporting Goods, according to Dick’s Sporting Goods Jersey Report, an internet site that tracks the company’s jersey sales.
Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck (6.45 percent), New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning (5.00) and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (4.56) rank second through fourth behind Griffin.
