OPINION:
As an American of African descent and a life member of the National Rifle Association, I am highly offended by the remarks spilling earlier this month from the mouth of NBC Sports anchor Bob Costas (“Bob Costas shoots himself in the foot,” Comment & Analysis, Dec. 5).
The Jovan Belcher episode was a tragic situation, and at the time of Mr. Costas’ comments, the people killed had not yet even been laid to rest. Mr. Costas seemed to have decided to use the deaths to advance his mealy-mouthed, anti-gun-rights agenda. I find his statement about guns being to blame for the killings to be the epitome of asininity.
NBC should terminate Mr. Costas’ employment. For his information, I am not a token. I am an American.
