D.C. police were investigating two early morning shootings on Sunday, one of them fatal, a spokesman said.
Police spokesman Paul Metcalf said a man died after being shot around 3 a.m. Sunday on the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue Northwest. Mr. Metcalf said police are treating the shooting as a homicide.
A shooting that took place roughly 30 minutes earlier on the 1600 block of Butler Street Southeast is considered an unrelated incident.
According to the D.C. Police Twitter feed, the Butler Street victim was shot in the groin. Mr. Metcalf said the victim was alive and conscious when police arrived on the scene, but he was uncooperative with the officers.
